California Junior Scholarship Federation

January 25th, 2012

Hello River Hawks and Parents/Guardians of River Hawks!

Welcome (or welcome back) to Rio Norte! I am thrilled that some of you have already been asking about CJSF membership! Here is some preliminary information…

California Junior Scholarship Federation (CJSF) applications will be available on Wednesday, January 25th in Room D-13 and on this page of the Rio Norte Website. Spring membership in CJSF is available to 7th and 8th GRADE STUDENTS! If you choose to print out an application, please click the application link that applies to you (there are two choices this semester).

The purpose of the CJSF, a state-wide organization of over 600 chapters, is to foster high standards of scholarship, service, and citizenship on the part of students. Membership is by application only, and is not automatic or compulsory. Students must reapply every semester.

Applications are taken during the beginning of each semester.  To be formally admitted to CJSF, you need to complete the following tasks:

  1. fill out a CJSF application with your Fall 2011  1st and 2nd quarter grades (report cards from October and January)
  2. submit a $5.00 activities donation with your completed application (please pay at the ASB window, secure a receipt and turn the receipt and application in to Ms Kratofil in room D-13)
  3. Optional: purchase a “CJSF medal” for and additional $5.00

The application and fee must be submitted to me no later than Friday, February 10th. Please drop off your application and receipt (including the optional $5.00 pre-order receipt for a CJSF medal, if you so choose) in Room D-13. Once I have received your application and confirmed your eligibility, you will be formally invited to the Induction Ceremony. This ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, April 12th at 7pm.

Many more announcements will be made during the upcoming daily bulletins regarding the application process…keep listening!

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me (jkratofil@hartdistrict) or call me at Rio Norte at 295-3700, x. 1413.

CJSF
Sincerely,
Jeanette Kratofil
